Watch Out For those VOIP Fees

I subscribed to Vonage business VOIP service. I had two lines and a fax line. I decided to downgrade my service to just one single residential line. Guess how much Vonage charged me to do that. For the cancelled line, they charged me $41.19 and for the line that I’m keeping they charged me an activation fee of $10.63. So, the grand total is $51.82. I guess I should have read the fine prints when I signed up for the service, but I couldn’t help feeling that they are stealing money from me. Besides the outrageous fees, if you are seriously considering using VOIP, you should check into the following factors.
1. Stability of your broadband service because if the service is down, so is your VOIP. It does not route calls to your voice mail when the system is down either.
2. I think there are still some incompatibility issues between different phone systems. Especially when I call small offices that has a phone messaging system.
3. Features provided don’t consistently work. Problems I encountered are call forwarding and call hunt.

It's not when you buy. It's when you sell!
